In this world who does not want friendship? Everybody, whether it is human beings or animals requires friendship. Friendship is a divine virtue. It gives immense pleasure to the mind and body. Let’s first discuss about animals. It is seen animals also keep friendships among themselves, they may not be able to speak like human languages but they prove it by their actions. They can feel the friendship of their loved ones.
Now, come to our human society. At one juncture of life, human beings need friendship. Friendship is not confined to any gender or category. It is too vast. When a child comes to this earth from the mother’s womb, the mother becomes his/her first close friend. So we can not fix the friendship within a fixed boundary. Friendship can be with anybody, at any time. When we want to share something definitely we want true friends. Of course, one can get more friends in happy moments and very less in sad moments. Because to share the pain in sad moments, it is not that easy for us to get fewer friends in our distress.
Now, what is the definition of the true friendship? A friendship that is pious, sacred, selfless, understanding, caring, and sharing. True friendship is one where there is unconditional faith exists. Generally, people are self-centered, they think about their own self when a relationship is established. They calculate the profit and loss from the relationship. But a true friend always first thinks about his friendship. He/she knows the value of true friendship. Money is not all but at times of pain if a true friend shares, then definitely pain is definitely reduced. A human being always wants a relationship in his life and more particularly in a time of distress he/she feels alone. That time is very painful. Nobody thinks about you, nobody understands your pain, and nobody cares about you at the difficult time. At that time a human being totally feels helpless. So in a true friendship, personal wants vanish. The relationship becomes closer. The bond between the persons blossoms more brightly.
There are many instances of true friendship starting from our lord Krishna and Sudama, Krishna and Arjun, Demon and Pythias (Greek persons) and so many others. All people are not selfish. There are good people always at all times. True friendship never sees the richness or poor condition of friends. Their main intention is to help and to share his/her friend in their time of need in their own capacity. The virtue of true friendship is very sacred. When we help to our friends with true friendship, positive energy is created in our bodies. Another point is that if animals can do the friendship then as we human beings are super in every respect how can we forget this great virtue of social life? So everybody should try to become a good friend in life so that their friendship can be regarded as a true one as not only we make true friendships but we should nurture the relationship with the utmost care and love with selfless sacrifice.
